It is necessary when the joints between tiles become worn or damaged, as this can lead to water infiltration and roof damage. It typically involves removing and replacing the old mortar with new mortar.

Roof Repointing Process

At Zone Restorations, our roof repointing process is as follows:


  1. We inspect the roof’s structure to detect any visible damage.
  2. We repoint any pointing that is cracked, split or crumbling.
  3. We remove old cement mortar and replace it. 
  4. We clean off any excess mortar.
  5. We remove any grit.
  6. We apply a sealer coat and colour coat (so the new ridge capping matches the existing roof).
